LEADS Center for Entrepreneurship and SME Management is a place of research and knowledge sharing in the field of entrepreneurship, SME management, and strategic business practice. In LEADS, we think, we write, we speak, and we act intellectually for our clients, society, and country based on the universal empirical evidence that entrepreneurial firms and SMEs are the catalysts of national growth across the globe. The mission of LEADS is to become a focused, influential think-tank advancing entrepreneurial orientation and managerial competencies in the Malaysian SMEs sector. We are envisioned to train, develop, and transform our keen learners into enterprising people in their own profession ready to excel in the increasingly globalizing environment. It is therefore always our business idea of creating unique values for LEADS service portfolio, ranging from applied research to action-based workshops, dedicated to developing venturesome human assets mandatory for enhancing the competitiveness of Malaysian SMEs in the global race.

The Needs for Entrepreneurship Training & Development

Entrepreneurship is increasingly recognized as today’s critical success factor (CSF) for organizational excellence. Entrepreneurial behavior is acknowledged to be the viable source of competitive advantage for individual firms and nations alike to outperform their counterparts better, faster, and cheaper. The sustainability of business success at micro level depends on the extent to which entrepreneurial culture is encouraged and operationalized within individual organizations. Likewise, the attainment of national competitiveness at macro level lies in the coordination between industries and public policy-makers to transform Malaysia into an entrepreneurial country-state.

Empirical research has revealed that successful entrepreneurs and SME owner-managers are not born but made. Characteristics of entrepreneurial personality such as innovativeness, proactivity, risk-taking, hard working, flexibility, and leadership could nourish through scientific and systematic learning process. Everybody has the psychology of entrepreneurial propensity to explore and make into somebody with strong initiative, confidence, and urgency to succeed in life. As such, business firms run by entrepreneurially oriented owners and employees would perform far better than those managed without entrepreneurial mindset. Not-for-profit organizations would be more receptive to public support if their members and committees could act in the spirit of social entrepreneurship. Parents can witness their children becoming more resourceful in studies, careers, and community works if entrepreneurship education is encouraged in their family. It would consequently be contributory to Malaysia’s development should Malaysians from all walks of life are well equipped with entrepreneurial skills made possible by interactive learning mechanisms such as training, coaching, and mentoring.

LEADS Skills Development & Enhancement Programs (SDEP)

LEADS Center for Entrepreneurship and SME Management as a place of research and learning offers nine integrated, action-based skills development & enhancement programs (SDEP) to promote entrepreneurial orientation and managerial competencies in the Malaysian SMEs sectors.
